Third Quarter
Welcome to Third Quarter!
What to Expect Third Quarter:
- We will be spending a great portion of our time this quarter preparing students for the upcoming state reading assessment. The reading assessment will be given March 28-30. They will be given a folder to keep all of the terms, worksheets, review pages, etc. that they will need to help them prepare for the test. I am encouraging students to take this folder home over Spring Break so they can continue to review and prepare for the test.
- Your students will be reading four more novels for their outside reading grade this quarter. They will be assigned one novel from our historical fiction unit. They will also be required to complete an assignment related to their novel during that time.
- Book Talk- students are expected to choose one novel of their choice that they read this quarter and give a two-minute oral presentation over that novel.
- Historical Fiction Unit- we will be reading many stories from our literature book and completing activities that tie into the stories during this unit.
- Collection Eight: Reading for Life- Technical reading unit in literature book
- Students will also complete a third quarter portfolio assignment similar to the assignments from first and second quarter.

Students have access at school and at home to my Moodle Page. Here, they will find information for the class, my class calendar (this includes what assignments we work on everyday), login sites for Tween Tribune and their literature book Online. They will also find updated materials as needed to projects we are completing in class.
