SHHS Debate Team Takes 4th Place at State Championship

Sophomores Mac Phrommany, Jordan Martin, Kody Idell, and Alex Kaechele did a top-notch job of representing Spring Hill High School (SHHS) at the State Debate Championship, which was held at Silver Lake High School on Jan. 13-14. Showing that they have got the right stuff, Idell and Kaechele were 5 and 1 in the preliminary rounds, with their only loss to the one undefeated team in the tournament. They broke into octafinals as the 5th seed and ultimately won on a unanimous decision. In quarterfinals, the students met the undefeated 1st seed again, losing on a 2-1 decision in extremely close round. Out of the best 72 teams in the state, the SHHS sophomores finished in 4th place under the direction of coaches Andrea Hiesberger and Nacole Boan.
