SHES Students Aren't Chicken to Read
May 13, 2010
How much is a million? Can a school actually read 1,000,000 minutes in a school year? You bet!
Students at Spring Hill Elementary celebrated this “egg-cellent” feat on Wednesday, May 19th, by seeing Principal Toon dressed as a chicken, working from her nest above the library classroom and reading her favorite chicken books to students throughout the day. Additionally, students enjoyed a day full of literature activities.
Mrs. Toon started the morning in front of the school holding a sign touting the fact that “Spring Hill Elementary students aren’t chicken to read!” She followed it up with a ride up to the school doors in a fire truck. To end the celebration, all students and staff gathered together at the end of the day to do a school-wide chicken dance!
