PTO

The mission of SHES PTO is to promote the welfare of children and youth, to bring into closer relation the home and school so that families and teachers may better cooperate in the education of children and youth, and to help provide supplemental resources that enhance or compliment school curricula.

Ways to Stay Connected

Monthly Meetings provide helpful communication exchange and opportunities to get involved. They are held the 1st Tuesday of the month. Child care is provided & ALL parents are invited and encouraged to attend.
Monthly PTO Newsletters contain all the important information from PTO. These will come home via student back packs.
Frequent emails will give parents reminders and alerts about important PTO information.
PTO website provides an additional resource. www.usd230.org; click on Our Schools-Elementary School; click Students and Parents then PTO.
Calendar Magnets give parents a quick reference for school contact information and important dates. Each student will receive one the first week of school.

Get Involved In Committees

Room Parents- Chair: Kelci Younger – Room parents are an information resource for other parents, organize classroom parties and coordinate parent participation in PTO activities and district events.
Box Tops/Best Choice Labels- Chair: Stephanie Pankewich - Box Tops and Best Choice UPC’s are collected throughout the year in the classrooms. There will be multiple contests to motivate children and parents.
SHES/SHIS Carnival- Chair: Jason Winbolt – The Spring Carnival held in March allows SHES & SHIS families an opportunity to have a fun family night while supporting the schools. This event requires @10 committee members and almost 200 volunteers.
Book Fairs- Chair: Amee Pacheco –Book Fairs are held twice a year, once in the fall and once in the spring (1/2 price!). The book fairs allow students and parents to view the latest books from Scholastic® and allow teachers an opportunity to earn books for their classrooms.
Teacher Appreciation Week- Chair: Jennifer Nelson – May 2nd thru 6th multiple activities are planned to show staff how much they are appreciated.
Parent/Teacher Conference Meals- Chair: Emilie Kaiser - This committee is asked to prepare meals, desserts and snacks for staff during conferences.
Staff Birthday and Holidays- Chair: Danielle Allenbrand – Birthday cards are distributed to all staff, treats are made for monthly celebrations and other staff appreciation days.
Entertainment Book Fundraiser & Cookie Dough Fundraiser- Major fundraisers throughout the year supply the PTO with needed funding they are able to put back into the school and students.
Summer Movie Program- Chair: Sharon Mitchell - Summer movie tickets are sold at the school at a significant discount and a percentage of the ticket sales go back to the PTO.
Spirit Wear- spirit wear is available in youth and adult sizes bearing the art work of an SHES student. Ordering information is in the PTO newsletter.
Family Fun Nights range in themes from Family Game Night to Family Art Show night. Watch newsletters for info.
Restaurant Nights- Chair: Robin Cole - held monthly offering a night to meet other families and also provide additional PTO funds since part of the profit is given back to the school.
