P.R.I.D.E.

Colts PRIDE High Fivers are students that are selected from each classroom every week.  These are students that have shown exemplary attitudes, work ethic and community spirit.  These students must meet the PRIDE criteria in order to be selected.  If selected, their parents/guardians are called with the good news and glowing report, and their name is posted on our Colts High Fivers wall.  In order to receive this honor Colts PRIDE High Fivers:

            are Prepared to learn
            are Respectful
      make wIse choices
are engageD in activities/lessons
   strive for Excellence.

In addition to the five PRIDE traits, this year the weekly High Fivers have to also exhibit specific character traits.  Each week a new word is introduced to the students.

SHES was the recipient of a wonderful Character Education Kit from the local Sprint corporation.  The kit includes eight videos (three character traits per video), supporting printed materials for grades 3-5, and a web based curriculum.  The website also offers a family section which is specifically geared toward helping families.  (Check it out at www.connectingwithkids.com ).
Each week we have a new character word of the week. These words have been tied into the existing high fiver program.  The children chosen for the High Fiver will also have exhibited that week's specific character trait during the week.  Below is the list of traits, corresponding week for that trait, and a definition.  Take a look and try to reinforce these ideas at home!
