Hillsdale Water Quality Project

A group of students at Spring Hill Middle School are participating in the Hillsdale Water Quality Project. The purposes for developing these "stream teams" are to educate the students on water quality issues and to teach them what they can to do improve water quality in their watershed. The students are collecting and analyzing water samples and from this will learn more about the quality of the water in Hillsdale Lake.

Tests that are planned include: ammonia, nitrates, dissolved oxygen, pH, total phosphates, and temperature. Three sites have been selected. We hope to expand the number of students involved in this project this coming school year. Testing will resume this fall.

Students having fun as well as learning some
                              practical applications for science.
