Band Important Information
Band Classroom materials
Every child needs to bring their instrument, Standard of Excellence book, and a pencil to band. (A pencil will fit in most of their cases, so please remind them to place it inside). Band Practice Requirement
Every band student is required to practice a minimum of
100 minutes per week. They
should be marking the week, their assignments, and the amount of practice
minutes on the inside cover of their red Standard of Excellence
books. A parent signature is
needed – please mark it on either the left or right margin on the inside
cover for each week. Practice
minutes, along with classroom participation and behavior, factor into the
students’ grades. Students
who are in both Orchestra and Band may use 30 of their orchestra minutes
toward band every week. * To earn extra credit: Students may go to any musical performance, such as a half-time show or a musical program, and bring back either a program or a note from parents. Band Instrument Repair
If your child’s instrument is in need of repair, please take it in right away, so the kids don’t get behind.
