Illustrating Idioms

What is an idiom?  It is a figure of speech or an expression that has a meaning different than the regular meaning of the words.  After studying these in class, students chose an idiom to portray.  They took a figure of speech and showed the literal meaning.

Put your money where you mouth is

 

Sight for sore eyes

 

Caught red handed

 

Talking through your hat

 

Take a hike

 

Butterflies in your stomach

 

A picture's worth a thousand words

 

White elephant gift

 

Once in a blue moon

 

Wind beneath my wings

 

Curiosity killed that cat

 

When pigs fly

 

Break a leg

 

Ants in your pants

 

Queen of the world
